Real Madrid have few matches remaining until the end of the season, but the tension between the fans, former players and the top brass appears to have peaked.
Florentino Perez, in particular, has been under the microscope for a series of critical decisions and is now finally facing the scrutiny. This time around, he has faced vicious criticism from a former Real Madrid player in the form of Ivan Helguera.
The former Real Madrid defender, who made almost 350 appearances for the club, took to social media to express his frustration in a pointed and calculated manner.

Helguera uploaded a photo of Arbeloa alongside Florentino Perez, accompanying it with a quote from Machiavelli’s ‘The Prince’:
“He who tolerates disorder to avoid war, first has disorder and then war.”
The message needed no further explanation. By pairing the quote directly with an image of the president and the outgoing coach, Helguera was making a clear statement about the consequences of the decisions made at the top of the club over the course of this season.
It is a damning indictment from someone who knows the club from the inside. Helguera, after all, had played for Real Madrid between 1999 and 2007, featuring in 346 matches.
