Former Steelers linebacker Jacoby Windmon returns to Pittsburgh for a tryout during rookie minicamp after previously being waived and signed by the Carolina Panthers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have brought back a familiar face at the linebacker position for a tryout during rookie minicamp.
According to a report from Penn Live's Nick Farabaugh, former Steelers linebacker Jacoby Windmon attended rookie minicamp as a tryout player.
Windmon, who signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2024, was waived ahead of final roster cuts in August of his rookie year but was brought back via the practice squad in October.
The Carolina Panthers signed Windmon off the Steelers' practice squad to their active roster in October 2024, and he spent time on and off their practice squad that season.
Windmon rejoined the Steelers for a second stint via the practice squad in October 2025 but was released shortly after. He joined the Panthers' practice squad again in November 2025 and signed a reserve/future contract with the team in January 2026.
Following his recent release from the Panthers on Thursday, Windmon could potentially earn his way back onto the Steelers for a third stint, pending a successful tryout at rookie minicamp.
