Former Texas A&M WR on track to be an electric playmaker in the NFL

KC Concepcion's elite ability to create separation gives him the potential to be a special playmaker in this league, according to Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko.

Elko spoke about Concepcion on The Jim Rome Show after his star receiver was drafted in the first round of the recently concluded 2026 NFL Draft, saying, "I think the ability to be an electric playmaker [...] he separates. I mean, that's the one thing I told NFL people I talked to, I just think his ability to separate running routes is different. Obviously, being around some of the best wideouts to come through this league, I just think he's really, really unique."

Concepcion has the athleticism and route-running ability to win against man coverage while also thriving as a high-IQ slot option who finds holes in the zone, but it's after the catch where he truly shines. He has high-level vision working upfield, as evidenced by his 2 punt-return touchdowns, and expertly uses his elite acceleration and deceleration to work through crowded spaces.

After tying the program record for most players selected in a single draft in his second season as head coach, it's safe to say that Elko has a knack for identifying talented prospects and developing them to their fullest potential. Elko believes that Concepcion's new head coach, Todd Monken, is similarly talented.

He called Monken "one of the most respected offensive minds in the game of football," and believed the new Browns coach would make the most of Concepcion's special talents.
