Francis Mauigoa selected by Dolphins by The Phinsider in SB Nation’s community mock draft

Welcome back to another year of the SB Nation Community Mock Draft!

As we do every draft season, all 32 NFL sites at SB Nation come together to fill out an entire first-round mock draft leading up to the actual event that takes place from April 23-25. One by one, our site managers will make their picks and provide their reasoning behind the selection. From there, I will provide further analysis on top of giving a final opinion on the pick!

Without further ado, let’s keep things rolling!

With the first overall pick in the 2026 SB Nation Community Mock Draft, The Phinsider’s Kevin Nogle and the Miami Dolphins select Francis Mauigoa, offensive tackle, Miami!

Nogle’s analysis:

My analysis: Mauigoa was the consensus top offensive tackle in this draft class once the season ended back in February. Since, players like Monroe Freeling and Spencer Fano were able to show off their elite athleticism at the combine and have rightfully earned more respect from teams as potential top-10 picks and/or the first tackle off the board.

Mauigoa has since performed all the combine drills at Miami’s pro day and tested well for a player of his size. Still, a back injury may cause his stock to drop, even if it’s from a potential top-five pick to pick 11.

The Dolphins need to reinvent their identity after firing Mike McDaniel and this pick is one that could really help expedite that process under new head coach Jim Hafley. He comes from the Packers. who play a very pro-style, run-first offense that then benefits the play-action game with Jordan Love. Mauigoa will be a tone-setter from the jump and an excellent piece to begin Miami’s rebuild around.
