The New York Giants were able to bolster the offensive line in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft, selecting Miami offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa with the 10th overall pick.
Mauigoa is a polarizing prospect with elite speed and athleticism for his size. At 6-foot-6, 315 pounds, Mauigoa was a focal point on Miami’s offensive line from 2023-2025 as he could quickly begin to dominate opposing defenses throughout his rookie campaign.
During his introductory press conference on Friday, Mauigoa revealed that he's been working with former Giants center Jon Feliciano on the guard position, which is where general manager Joe Schoen and head coach John Harbaugh said he will play in 2026.
"I've been working with Jon Feliciano out of Knoxville, Triple F," Mauigoa told reporters. "It's pretty simple. Tackle, you've got a lot of space you've got to cover. Guard, you've got minimum space. If anything, he said guard would be easier. So just ready to work at it."
Feliciano served as the Giants' center for just one season in 2022.
A nine-year NFL veteran, Feliciano has experience playing every position on the offensive line and could serve as an excellent mentor to Mauigoa moving forward.
Still just 20 years old, Mauigoa has elite talent and could undoubtedly prove to be a star on the Giants' offensive line this season. Feliciano is a savvy veteran with excellent knowledge of both the guard and tackle positions, and Mauigoa is expected to continue working with the former Giant as the offseason progresses.
