Wings shut down questions about Fudd and Bueckers' relationship
Florida State's starting pitcher Bryson Moore is uncertain for Sunday's game against Notre Dame due to a mild oblique injury. Head coach Link Jarrett mentioned that Moore's bullpen session will be crucial for determining his availability.
The Florida State Seminoles are gearing up for a series against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but they could be without Sunday starting pitcher Bryson Moore, whose status is TBD for the game, head coach Link Jarrett revealed on Thursday.
"He's got a mild, little tender oblique," Jarrett said. "He's on track with his throwing, but the bullpen tomorrow will be significant to see if he is on schedule."
Moore has started nine games for the Seminoles, going 5-1 with a 4.32 ERA in 41 2/3 innings pitched. The Virginia transfer has allowed 20 runs on 36 hits and 18 walks, striking out 46 batters. FSU is 6-3 in the games he has started.
While it would be a blow to be without Moore, Jarrett believes in the options they have, naming Cooper Whited and Johnny Abraham as potential replacements.
Whited, who has been their Tuesday starter, threw just 33 pitches against Stetson this week. Something Jarrett mentioned was intentional due to Moore's status being uncertain. He has started six games this season and has a 2-2 record and a 3.04 ERA in 23 2/3 innings. The lefty has allowed nine runs on 19 hits and three walks with 24 strikeouts.
While Abraham is an option, and Jarrett said he is "always available for anything," he is FSU's top reliever, and it is hard to imagine him not pitching in the first two games of the series.
The righty has started one game this season and has a 0.86 ERA in 31 1/3 innings over 13 appearances. He has allowed 4 runs on 19 hits and 12 walks, striking out 45 batters.
The Seminoles and Notre Dame are set to start their series on Friday at Dick Howser Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET, and it will be streamed on ESPN+. Wes Mendes will start like normal for FSU.
