Miami Dolphins' Pro Bowl running backĀ De'Von Achane was spotted at the team's training facility on Thursday, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, who described the visit as a sign of "good faith".
"Miami running back De'Von Achane, who was not present for the start of the teamās voluntary off-season workout program last week, was spotted in the Dolphinsā training facility today, per sources. It is believed that Achane showed up as a sign of good faith as the two sides continue discussing a contract extension, per source."Ā Schefter wrote.
He had skipped the start of Miami's voluntary offseason program when opened on Apr 7. Thursday's appearance makes the first concrete signal from his side that things are actually moving.
However, Miami has gotten rid of quite a few key pieces from its offense this offseason. Miami traded Jaylen Waddle and cut Tua Tagovailoa, meaning Achane is now the most vital player left on offense.
GM Jon-Eric Sullivan addressed the situation directly at Wednesday's pre-draft news conference.
"He is not available for trade. Things are going good. We've had some positive conversations over the last couple of days. Trending in the right direction. He's obviously very important to what we're doing. It's all part of it. We'll get where we need to be one way or another,"Ā Sullivan said.
Achane's return suggests ongoing discussions for a contract extension between him and the Dolphins.
Achane was not present at the start of the offseason program, which began on April 7, likely due to contract negotiations.

"I think anytime you're extending a player, you'd like to get ahead of the market. That's fairly common sense, but Achane is Achane. Those guys are those guys. Every deal's different. Every player's different. There are different factors that go into every deal. We're excited about moving forward with Achane and getting him done and having him be a huge part of what we're doing," he said.
No deal has been signed as of the time of this report. But Achane showing up voluntarily, without a contract in hand, is the most concrete development this standoff has produced.
Given where Sullivan says the conversations stand, something getting done before training camp looks more realistic today than it did a week ago.
