Aubrey Jones from Gaylord has been named Big 12 Softball Freshman of the Week after an impressive performance against Iowa State, where she achieved a batting average of .750 and contributed significantly to her team's success.

Gaylord natives Aubrey and Jayden Jones are well into their season with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls softball team, the latter making headlines early in the season after providing a walk-off hit in a victory over a top-ten-ranked opponent. Now, Aubrey's efforts over the past week are being recognized by the Big 12 Conference.
Jones was named the Big 12 Softball Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, April 14, thanks to her efforts in a three-game series against Iowa State last week. She posted a batting average of .750 and an OPS of 1.250 with six hits, three runs batted in and three runs scored, helping the Cowgirls go 2-1 in three games with a conference foe.

The former Blue Devil star is hitting .347 with 33 hits, 19 RBIs and three home runs in her true freshman season at OK State, a team with a 27-11 record, currently ranked No. 22 in the Softball America Top 25 and fourth in the Big 12 standings at 9-6 in league play.
Jones played a key part in both of GHS softball's state title runs in 2023 and 2024. She was a three-time first-team all-state honoree and won the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2024 after leading the nation in home runs (26) and RBIs (84) while posting a 15-0 record with 122 strikeouts in the circle, helping lead Gaylord to a second-straight MHSAA Division 2 state championship.
