Georgia men's basketball is getting a key assistant from the national champion Michigan Wolverines. Charlie May will become a grad assistant under Mike White, according to Clayton Sayfie.
May is the son of Michigan head coach Dusty May. He was a player on the Michigan Wolverines' national championship run. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard played just eight games, but he helped Michigan win an outright Big Ten regular-season title and national championship.
Dusty May has two other sons: Jack, who played for the Florida Gators from 2020-24, and Eli, who is a student manager with the Michigan Wolverines.

There are a lot of familiar connections to this hire. Dusty May worked as an assistant coach under Mike White at Louisiana Tech (2011-15) and Florida (2015-18). Mike's brother, Brian White, was the athletic director at Florida Atlantic who hired May in 2009.
With Charlie May's experience playing guard, it's more than likely that he'll help coach the guards. Georgia has brought in several high-profile assistants with connections to either Georgia or Mike White. The Bulldogs brought on Jarvis and Jonas Hayes to coach for 2026. With the additions to the coaching staff, the AD is seemingly giving Mike White more leverage with the Georgia basketball program.
