Georgia Bulldogs lost a key recruiting battle as four-star QB Peter Bourque committed to Virginia Tech. Bourque, the nation's No. 7 quarterback, previously decommitted from Michigan.
The Georgia Bulldogs were major losers in a big recruiting battle for another top quarterback recruit. Four-star quarterback Peter Bourque, who decommitted from Michigan earlier in his recruiting process, committed to the Virginia Tech Hokies over Georgia, according to Hayes Fawcett.
Bourque is a four-star quarterback from the class of 2027. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound gunslinger plays for Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts. He is the No. 7 quarterback and No. 80 prospect in the nation.
He originally committed to the Michigan Wolverines, but he decommitted on Feb. 17, 2026. Afterwards, he made two unofficial visits to Georgia, one on March 2 and another on March 28.
However, Bourque went on an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech on April 18, and that might've been what convinced him. It's another big win for Virginia Tech in James Franklin's first offseason as head coach. Bourque becomes the top prospect in the No. 17 recruiting class in the nation for the Hokies.
Georgia, meanwhile, has just the No. 28 recruiting class. They lost a significant portion of it in the beginning of May, with five-star Donte Wright flipping to Miami, along with four-star Jerry Outhouse (UCLA) and three-star Aden Starling (undetermined) also decommitting. They got a boost with a three-star linebacker Temorris Campbell committing earlier in the week, but Georgia could've used a prospect like Bourque in their class.
Peter Bourque likely chose Virginia Tech after an unofficial visit on April 18, which may have influenced his decision.
Peter Bourque is ranked as the No. 7 quarterback and No. 80 overall prospect in the nation.
Bourque's commitment boosts Virginia Tech's recruiting class, making it the No. 17 class in the nation.

Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia are running out of quarterback targets in the class of 2027. Following Bourque's commitment, 29 of the top 30 quarterback recruits have committed to major college football programs. The lone uncommitted quarterback that is highly ranked is four-star Colton Nussmeier, who is a Georgia target. Other top college football programs without a top-30 quarterback commitment in the 2027 cycle include Auburn, UCLA and Penn State.
