Georgia transfer Jeremiah Wilkinson commits to Arkansas basketball, John Calipari

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas basketball is adding a scoring guard from an SEC rival to its roster for the 2026-27 season.

Rising junior Jeremiah Wilkinson committed to the Razorbacks on Tuesday, April 14, a source confirmed to the Southwest Times Record. ESPN was first to report Wilkinson's commitment.

The former Georgia Bulldog was the second pledge of the day for John Calipari, following Furman center Cooper Bowser.

Wilkinson averaged 17.4 points while shooting 41% overall and 35.7% on 3-pointers as a sophomore. The 6-foot-1 guard scored 30 points in the Bulldogs' blowout loss to Saint Louis at the NCAA Tournament.

What Jeremiah Wilkinson brings to Arkansas basketball

The Razorbacks need some scoring punch to their offense with Meleek Thomas declaring for the NBA Draft. There's a chance Thomas could return, but Wilkinson's addition signals the Hogs are preparing for a world without the fringe first-round pick. Wilkinson will stretch the opposing defense and be relied upon for late-game scoring.

Wilkinson is a scoring-focused guard who will play off the ball. He only produced 1.7 assists per game this past season and was a volume shooter for Georgia. In a plus, Wilkinson was not turnover prone with 1.4 giveaways per game.

If Wilkinson does start, he will likely pair with incoming freshman Jordan Smith Jr. in the backcourt. That duo will need to prove itself on the defensive end.

What it means for the Razorbacks

It's unclear if Arkansas will continue adding to its backcourt. Two other incoming freshmen, JJ Andrews and Abdou Toure, could play some guard, but there's also a chance Calipari looks to have a deeper roster and brings in a more traditional point guard to back up or compliment Smith.

The clear need still remaining in the transfer portal is in the Hogs' frontcourt, where they need at least two more bodies if Malique Ewin does not get a waiver for a fifth-year of eligibility.
