The Pittsburgh Steelers selected WR Germie Bernard in the second round of the NFL draft. What is his realistic 2026 fantasy outlook, and how might his presence impact D.K. Metcalf and Michael Pittman, Jr.?
In the modern NFL, itâs not surprising when teams completely overhaul their passing attacks. As recently as 2024, Pittsburgh rotated between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields at QB, with George Pickens, Calvin Austin III, and Van Jefferson serving as their top three wideouts. Entering 2026, itâll probably be Aaron Rodgers at QB (with perhaps Mason Rudolph as the top backup), and a wideout corps led by Metcalf, Pittman, and the rookie Bernard.
Fantasy managers should recognize that not even this WR trip can elevate the 42-year-old Rodgers, who has been reduced to a savvy game manager rather than an offense accelerator. His two top wideouts (Metcalf and Austin) combined for 154 targets, compared to 151 for his three top tight ends: Pat Freiermuth, Jonnu Smith, and Darnell Washington. RBs Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell combined for 130.
Perhaps this balanced approach was a function of the teamâs personnel, where Metcalf was Rodgersâ clear-cut alpha. But Rodgers is a relatively diminished quarterback with seven or eight capable mouths to feed. Thatâs a rough combination for fantasy managers seeking weekly fantasy starters.
While Metcalfâs ceiling took a hit when the team added Pittman, both guysâ values have taken a hit with Bernardâs arrival. In the dynasty, the rookie could overtake them by 2027, when Metcalf and Pittman will turn 30. Itâs a bit of a fantasy mess exacerbated by Rodgersâ declining abilities. If Bernard is ranked far below Metcalf and Pittman, then roll with the rookie as the teamâs biggest WR bargain.

Germie Bernard's fantasy outlook for 2026 is uncertain, as he joins a crowded wide receiver corps with established players like D.K. Metcalf and Michael Pittman, Jr.
Germie Bernard's addition may reduce D.K. Metcalf's target share, as the Steelers' passing game will need to distribute opportunities among multiple receivers.
Germie Bernard's presence could limit Michael Pittman, Jr.'s targets, making it challenging for both players to achieve consistent fantasy production.
