Utterly ridiculous! PSG beat Bayern in NINE-goal Champions League epic
In an epic Champions League clash, PSG beats Bayern 5-4 in a nine-goal semi-final!
The Gopher baseball team is showing improvement, currently sitting 13th in the Big Ten standings and just half a game away from qualifying for the Big Ten Tournament. They recently achieved a four-game winning streak, including a sweep over Northwestern.
The Gopher baseball team has been in a rut since 2018 when they won the Big Ten, advanced to the Super Regional and nearly knocked off Oregon State to get back to the College World Series. Since then they have seen their conference standing drop year after year.
2019 – 5th
2020 – n/a
2021 – 13th (out of 13)
2022 – 13th (out of 13)
2023 – 10th (out of 13)
2024 – 10th (out of 13)
2025 – 16th (out of 17)
And while this year is not exactly a surge to the top of the Big Ten standings, the 2026 Gophers are much improved. They currently sit 13th in the conference standings after their first sweep at home over a conference opponent since 2019 and are just a 1/2 game out of qualifying for the Big Ten Tournament. And while the record doesn’t scream “improvement,” they have had quite a few close losses. This team is better and they are right on the edge of having a record that would make them competitive in the conference.
This past week they won all four of their games including a 3-game sweep over last place Northwestern. Weber Neels earned himself Big Ten Player of the Week honors after racking up nine hits, nine RBIs and three home runs.
In the Big Ten, the top 12 teams make the Big Ten Tournament and there is a group of seven teams within two games of each other, six of whom will make it to the conference post season.

Can Minnesota make up a game or two and get themselves to Omaha for the the Big Ten Tourney?
Looking at the schedule, they are going to have to contiue their winning streak and take care of business at Penn State. Because their final two series are not going to be easy. Penn State sits at the bottom of the league with Northwestern, this has to be a series win, at a minimum. And then they are going to have to steal two or three wins over Michigan and Nebraska, two teams with higher aspirations than just making the tournament.
Offensively, the Gophers are 4th in the league in runs, 4th in home runs and 1st in stolen bases. Their pitching staff is 3rd in total runs allowed, 4th in ERA and the defense has the 4th fewest errors in the league. This team, unfortunately, is losing a lot of close games. On their recent trip to face undefeated UCLA they lost all three games 2-4, 4-6, and 2-5. On their road trip to Iowa at the beginning of April they won the opening game and then lost 2-3 and 4-5. In Big Ten games decided by two runs or less, they are 2-9 this season. So close, not quite there, but they are right in the mix for being a competitive Big Ten team again.
A much improved team, and it will be fun to see if they can sneak into the Big Ten tournament and do some damage.
