ARLINGTON, Texas -- Following a bullpen day, the Texas Rangers needed length from starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore in Tuesday night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

However, even Gore himself didn’t expect to turn in the kind of performance he did on Tuesday night at Globe Life Field. Gore threw a career-high eight innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out five, in a 7-4 Rangers win.

“We were able to get some early contact and make some plays early,” Gore said after the game. “It was good timing for us to go eight innings today.

“I wanna go deep in every game,” Gore added. “With the way things have gone the past few outings, there’s been a lot of work to try to get better. Did I think I was going to go eight innings tonight? Not necessarily, but it was good timing for it, and I felt good.”

Pitching wasn’t the only thing the Rangers did well tonight as the Texas offense produced seven runs just 24 hours after being shut out.

The Rangers' seven runs and 11 hits were both season highs at Globe Life Field this season. Tuesday night marked just the third time Texas has hit multiple home runs in Arlington this season.

One of those home runs didn’t take very long to come as Joc Pederson blasted a leadoff home run in his return to the top of the lineup to give the Rangers an instant lead.

After Arizona tied the game, Jake Burger gave the Rangers the lead back with an RBI single in the second.

Burger went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk just two days after returning from a mental break of a few days.

In the fourth inning, Ezequiel Duran continued his hot run at the plate by connecting on a solo home run to make it 3-1 Texas.
