Grading Tennessee Titans pick of Carnell Tate at No. 4 in NFL Draft

The Tennessee Titans selected Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on April 23.

Tate featured heavily in Ohio State's offense over the last two seasons, catching 51 passes for 875 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025.

The first receiver taken in the 2026 draft, Tate will be another young receiver alongside second-year QB Cam Ward.

Here's how the Tennessean grades the Titans' first-round pick:

Tennessee Titans No. 4 overall draft pick grade for Carnell Tate

• The grade: C-plus
• Why? Tate wasn't the WR1 at Ohio State behind Jeremiah Smith. Given the draft capital, he'll be expected to be the WR1 in Nashville. He is a good, technical route runner who feasted in the slot. Can he play through aggressive coverage on the outside? To fulfill the pick value, Tate will have to do so as a pro. A good player, but a not-great value at No. 4.
