Grant Scott delighted with well-deserved win over Glasgow City at Hampden
Grant Scott was understandably delighted following his side’s 3-2 extra-time win over Glasgow City in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden on Sunday.
It means Celtic now have a return trip to the National Stadium to look forward to at the end of the month.
And after a hard-fought but well-deserved win for the Hoops, the Celtic FC Women’s manager spoke to Celtic TV.
He said: “I’m delighted for them. Obviously the objective coming here was to try and get through the tie and, in the end, it was well-deserved.
“We conceded a bit of territory and ground to City, and a bit of possession, but we felt that was the right play for this game, and trying to expose them when they stepped forward, and I think we did that, especially in extra-time.
“Getting the goal from almost our first attack was really important, and it seemed to give us a bit more belief. You could see the confidence grow and we used the ball really well, we used it well and, in the main, when we had it, we did well with it.
“I thought the reaction to losing the late goal was magnificent, and when we started extra-time, and then when we right to the last minute of the first period to get the third goal, at that point I thought the tie was won, as much as we knew City would come at us.
“Myself and the staff will not let the players get distracted by having this game at the end of the season.
£I think it’s a massively important occasion and we’ll certainly turn up here to do well, but you have to turn up every week and we’ll be trying to win the next three league games.
“Winning important matches gives you a spring in your step going into work on Monday morning. The players should enjoy this moment but we’re back to work as soon as we can.”
