Iga Swiatek was knocked out of the Stuttgart quarter-finals by Mirra Andreeva, falling 6-3, 4-6, 3-6. Swiatek has now split her first two matches since Francisco Roig took over as head coach from Wim Fissette.
Speaking after her loss in Germany, former Grand Slam finalist Greg Rusedski weighed in on one aspect of her game that stood out to him.
The Russian made headlines at Wimbledon last year when she reached the last eight, and sheâll now have a shot at reaching the same stage for the first time on clay, too.
Tournament favourite Swiatek was gracious in defeat after losing just her second career match at the Stuttgart Open.
The Spaniard is also known for his long association with Rafael Nadal â having been a member of his coaching team from 2005 until recently joining Swiatek this year.

Speaking on âOff Court Cutsâ, Rusedski questioned Roigâs timing in trying to adjust Swiatekâs serve during the middle of the season.
âI have seen it. They tried to loosen up the wrist,â said Rusedski. âIt looks a little bit âall over the shopâ, if Iâm being polite. This is where I say, sometimes you come into a job and you want to make a change.
âThatâs what Francisco [Roig] likes to do at times. For me, itâs very difficult to do that right away. Thatâs a thing where you need to do it later on.
âShe has always had that elbow quite high, but you can see there is a little tweak that he is trying to get in there. Iâm not sure itâs the time and the place, with such a short amount of time coming in there. Thatâs where I say, sometimes you have to be cautious with the change so close to tournaments.

Swiatek now heads to the first WTA 1000 event on clay this season. The Polish star won the title back in 2024 but wasnât able to defend her crown in 2025, losing heavily to Coco Gauff in the semi-finals.
This yearâs Madrid Open starts on April 23. It will be interesting to see how she responds after a difficult outing in Germany.
