The Grand Rapids Griffins aim to eliminate the Manitoba Moose in their playoff series. After losing the first game, the Griffins have secured two consecutive victories and seek to clinch the series at home tonight.
This is what the Grand Rapids Griffins have been aiming for since training camp; a long run in the postseason after a highly successful regular season.
After losing the opener to Manitoba, the Griffins have won the last two games and can put the Moose away tonight with a win on home ice.
“I mean, we’ve been in this spot before, where we had to win two games. We haven’t made things easy on ourselves all year. So why would we not go to five games and try to beat these guys,” Moose captain Mason Shaw told the Winnipeg Free Press. “It’s the us versus everyone mentality. We’ve got our backs against the wall, so we’ve just got to swing right now.”
A huge block for the Griffins has been goalie Michael Postava, who has stopped 67 of 70 shots in the postseason.
“I just trying to play it same, and I think I more and more be like comfy in everything what they do and guys help me so much,” Postava told the media following a 4-2 Game 3 victory on Wednesday.
“I’m still thinking the same, like just trying to help guys and play like best hockey I can.”
So far, that’s been more than enough for the team with the second-highest point total in the American Hockey League this season.

Three Facts That Give The Griffins The Edge In Game 4
1. Postava. He;s been brilliant in goal for the Griffins. He’s given no indication to think that fan;t continue.
2/ Defense. The Griffins allowed Manitoba only 17 shots in Game 3,. abd have held the Moose to single digits in shots their last five periods
3. Offense. While Manitoba goalie Domenic DiVincentiis has been almost as good as Popstava, the Grand Rapids offense got off 32 shots against him on Wednesday, and that persistence paid off. The Griffins have adjusted to the pace of playoff hockey, and while Manitoba has weathered elimination before, it won’t be a surprise if Grand Rapids is too much for Manitoba this time around.
