Fabio Grosso says that he felt āemotionalā after watching his Sassuolo players put in a āmasterpieceā performance in their 2-1 victory over the Champions League-chasing Como in Serie A on Friday evening: āIām proud of these guys, of what they have done and of what they will continue to doā.
Quickfire goals from Cristian Volpato and MāBala Nzola towards the end of the first half were enough for Sassuolo to hold onto all three points, despite Nico Paz pulling one back on the stroke of the interval.

āI told the boys that they made me emotional today, they put together a masterpiece. Playing this game against this opponent shouldnāt have been taken for granted, but instead we did really well,ā said Grosso during his post-match interview with DAZN.
āWe chose the right moments in the game to do the right things, so well done to the boys.
āItās been an amazing year, now we have to recover and recharge. We will find other teams difficult to face and will come up against teams that put in performances of the highest level.ā
Grosso was asked how pleased he was with the performances of Cristian Volpato and MāBala Nzola, who provided the crucial goals against Como.
āVery happy,ā he said. āItās a group that trains well, itās right to praise them for being protagonists. Iām happy with the people who work for me, together we always try to do our best. Weāre doing amazing things, we want to continue, knocking that weāre facing very good opponents.ā

And where does Grosso see Volpato playing his best football? Out wide or through the middle?
āI talk to him a lot, for me he has impressive potential. I believe in him, he has really great qualities. Every now and then he slows down a bit, but he puts in a lot of good will. If he understands that certain things can change, he can affect games at very high levels,ā Grosso replied.
Sassuolo are now five points away from reaching an impressive tally of 50 points heading into the final five games of the season.
āWeāve done a lot, quickly and unexpectedly. It wasnāt an easy start, but then we got back on track.
āWeāve done amazing things, getting through a few scuffles, but maintaining our identity. Iām very proud of these guys, of what they have done and of what they will continue to do.ā
