The Cleveland Guardians' broadcast team shared a fascinating stat midway through Wednesday's game in St. Louis against the Cardinals.
Cleveland, having just been thrown out at home, leads MLB in times making an out at the plate this season. It was six after that play. And it had already been two on the day.
And those two players thrown out at home, by daylight? The Guardians lost 5-3, by two runs.
Yeah, those plays mattered. And it's worth asking questions about why the runners were going.
Both times, they were testing the relay of Masyn Winn -- the shortstop who has measurably the strongest infield arm in all of baseball.
The first came on an infield grounder with Steven Kwan on third base. He went on contact, and he stumbled partway down the line, but Winn's throw was going to beat him regardless.
The second came when George Valera hit a double to the left field wall. Kyle Manzardo started the play on first, and he was waved around third to throw home.
Winn's relay throw got him by a mile.

Guardians third base coach Rouglas Odor is getting the kind of attention that a guy in his spot really doesn't want any bit of.
The Guardians broadcasters, after Manzardo was thrown out, began to discuss that Odor is simply trying to be "aggressive."
That's not a terrible principle, but there's a difference between aggression and recklessness.
The Guardians are failing right now on their decisions to try and take the extra base, cutting down chances at runs rather than giving the next hitter a chance to score them.
To win close games, that can't happen anymore.
The Guardians lost to the Cardinals due to two players being thrown out at home plate, which contributed to their 5-3 defeat.
The Guardians have been thrown out at home plate six times this season, leading Major League Baseball in that statistic.
The two outs at home plate were crucial, as they directly contributed to the Guardians losing the game by two runs, 5-3.
