Harry Maguire to miss Chelsea game due to FA charge
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire will miss Saturday's important game against Chelsea after being given a further one-game ban by the FA.
Maguire was sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity in United's 2-2 draw with Bournemouth last month in a decision that angered manager Michael Carrick after his team were not given a penalty for a similar incident earlier in the game.
Following the game an FA charge "alleged that the defender acted in an improper manner and/or abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards the fourth official following his dismissal," which has now been upheld according to the reliable Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic.
Maguire missed Monday evening's defeat to Leeds United at Old Trafford when again Carrick and his team were unhappy with two key decisions. The first was Dominic Calvert-Lewin appearing to foul Leny Yoro in the build-up to the opening goal for Leeds and then Lisandro Martínez being sent off for pulling the hair of the striker while also appearing to be fouled.
Those two decisions will mean that Leny Yoro could be joined by Ayden Heaven for the game at Stamford Bridge – a game that could be crucial for Champions League qualification by the end of the season.

The charge stemmed from Maguire's behavior after being sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity in a match against Bournemouth.
Maguire's absence will leave a gap in Manchester United's defense, impacting their strategy and overall team strength in the crucial match against Chelsea.
