The Monomoy boys lacrosse team secured their first win of the season by defeating Sturgis East 12-10. Key players included Shea Gvazdauskas with four goals and Nick Garneau with two goals and six assists.
It was a big win for the Monomoy boys lacrosse team on Tuesday.
The Sharks (1-5) beat Sturgis East (2-4), 12-10, for their first win of the spring.
For the Sharks, Shea Gvazdauskas had four goals (including his first varsity goal) and three assists. Nick Garneau had two goals and six assists. Owen Casey had a goal and three assists. Brodie LaValley had three goals. Ryder Long and Emmett Giorgio had one goal each.
Goalie Harry Beaumont made 16 saves. Quinn and Vaughn Morris played well on defense and caused a handful of turnovers apiece.

Falmouth 11, Martha’s Vineyard 5: The Clippers (6-0) beat the Vineyarders (3-2) to preserve their perfect record.
Nantucket 14, Sandwich 3: The Whalers (6-1) beat the Blue Knights (2-5) for their second consecutive victory.
Will Hughes had two goals and Braeden Tobin had one goal for Sandwich.
Martha’s Vineyard 13, Sturgis East 0: The Vineyarders (4-4) topped the Storm (0-6) for their fourth straight win.
Nantucket 14, Barnstable 9: The Whalers (7-0) beat the Red Hawks (2-5) to stay unbeaten.
For the Red Hawks, Caroline Curley had five goals. Caroline Meins had three goals. Isla Curley had one goal. Avery Croteau had one assist and five draw controls. Morgan Mueller made 20 saves. Kera Clifford played well in the midfield.
Falmouth Academy 8, Sturgis West 7: The Mariners (3-0) topped the Navigators (2-4) to stay perfect on the season. Faye McGuire scored five goals to lead the Mariners. Mira Davis had two goals, and Amelia Russell-Schaeffer had another goal for the Mariners. Willow Wakefield played well in net.
For Sturgis West, Bridgit Dwyer (three goals), Savanah Roy (two goals, one assist) and Cora McDade (two goals) led the offense. Ceci O'Connor made eight saves.
Hull 13, Mashpee 12: The Falcons (4-3) lost to end a three-game win streak. Ciara Hendricks and Claire Howard had four goals each. Sophia Morin and Kai Christo had two goals each. Riley Thomas made 11 saves in net.
Sandwich 16, South Shore Tech 0: The Blue Knights (5-2) exploded offensively for a shutout win. Arabella Finton led the offense with a grand slam. Jenna Fay and Maddie Brown added two RBIs each. Sophie Farrington allowed one hit, and struck out 12 of 15 batters.
Martha’s Vineyard 6, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Vineyarders (2-0) stayed unbeaten with a win over the Dolphins (0-4). The Vineyard's Hannah Wansiewicz defeated Riley Precourt, 3 and 2. Jocie Smith defeated Addy Callaghan, 1-up. Allie Branca beat Savannah Nydam, 4 and 2. Callie Oteri beat Aurora Quenneville, 4 and 3. Clara Rabeni defeated Sammie Precourt, 3 and 1. Laila Branca defeated Olivia Childs, 2 and 1. Evelyn Lavigne defeated Maia Mercurio.
Nauset 6, Falmouth 0: The Warriors (3-1) beat the Clippers (1-4) for their third straight win. Nauset's Sophia Silvestri beat Veronica Vizgaitis, 4 and 3. Finley Williams beat Neila Cardoza, 4 and 3. Lilah Baer beat Hope Kelleher, 3 and 2. Emma Levya beat Hadley Viera, 2-up. Leah Brown beat Sam Irving, 3 and 2. Tiffany Gomez beat Julia Martin, 2-up.
Bourne 3, Wareham 2: The Canalmen (4-2) won for the third time in their last four matches. At first singles, Lily Russell won when the Wareham player retired with Russell up, 3-0. At second singles, Ainsley Hopwood won 6-0, 6-0. At first doubles, Sophia Halunen and Ella Swierkowski won 6-1, 6-1.
Barnstable 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Red Hawks (2-3) beat the Dolphins (0-4) for their first win since the beginning of the season.
Falmouth Academy 4, Cohasset 1: The Mariners (3-0) stayed perfect with the win.
