The Iowa womenâs basketball roster transfer-portal transformation has continued with an intriguing Division III acquisition.
High-scoring point guard Bria Medina from Knox College, has committed to the Hawkeyes, a source with direct knowledge of her decision told the Des Moines Register. She has one year of eligibility remaining after a stellar junior season in which she averaged 23.6 points per game to rank second in Division III.
Medina, listed at 5-foot-6, accumulated 1,524 points in 78 games at Knox, good for a 19.5 per-game average. She reached 30-plus points five times in Knoxâs 13-13 season, registering a career-high 40 points on Jan. 27, 2026, against Illinois College on 12-for-18 shooting and 11-for-14 free throws.
Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Medina brings depth and scoring to Jan Jensenâs 2026-27 Hawkeyes roster. Medina made 46.9% of her shots last season, including 35.6% from 3-point range (21-for-59) on low volume, and sizzled at 86.9% from the free-throw line while earning nearly nine attempts per game. She also averaged 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.7 steals as a junior.
Knox College transfer Bria Medina will go from playing in Division III gyms to Carver-Hawkeye Arena, which has sold out the last three seasons for women's basketball.
Certainly, itâs a major jump in competition from the Midwest Conference (Knox is a private college in Galesburg, Illinois) to the Big Ten Conference, so expectations will be tempered for Medinaâs lone season at Iowa.
