The Pittsburgh Pirates will encounter a familiar face when opposing Andrew McCutchen and the Texas Rangers this week.
McCutchen concluded his second stint with the Pirates when he joined the Rangers on a minor league contract in March. The five-time All-Star outfielder could at least start Wednesday's series-opening game against Pirates southpaw Braxton Ashcraft.
Pittsburgh effectively ended McCutchen's run by signing Marcell Ozuna as a replacement designated hitter, but the Pirates icon downplayed feeling any extra motivation against his former team.
"It's just another day at the ballpark," McCutchen told reporters on Wednesday, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "It's not much emotion compared to the first time when I was traded."
Andrew McCutchen played for the Pittsburgh Pirates before joining the Texas Rangers.
The series between the Texas Rangers and the Pittsburgh Pirates starts on Wednesday.

McCutchen left the Pirates third in all-time home runs and ninth in runs scored, but the 39-year-old dodged an inquiry about maintaining a relationship with the organization after his playing career.
"We'll see," McCutchen said.
The 2013 National League MVP also didn't seem interested in rehashing the offseason. McCutchen gave the same reply when asked if he was disappointed not to re-sign with Pittsburgh and about his communications with the team.
"I'd rather not answer that question," he said.
The Pirates made the playoffs in three of McCutchen's 12 seasons, but they're off to an encouraging 13-10 start. McCutchen commended their early success.
"It's great. They made a conscious effort to find ways to better themselves and get better, and they went out and did that," McCutchen said. "Now it's paying off for them so far in the season. Obviously, you just got to stay healthy and see where that takes them for the rest of the season. But they've done well for themselves."
