Nicolas Castro got the scoring started early, finding the back of the net in the 12th minute, but Paulinho was the star, as the 33-year-old forward from Portugal put together a hat trick, scoring in the 43rd, 73rd, and 85th minutes to propel his team to victory.

If the LA Galaxy is to find a way to move on to the semifinals, they are going to have to figure out how to possess the ball more often. They had the ball just 27.4% of the time in the first leg, in addition to being outshot 17-7 overall. They were able to cut the lead to one on two separate occasions, first on a Gabriel Pec strike in the 66th minute that cut the lead to 2-1 and then on a Marco Reus goal in the 77th minute that made the score 3-2. In order for the LA Galaxy to move on, they’ll need to defeat Toluca by at least two goals.
