The Indiana Fever fell to the Dallas Wings 107-104 in its 2026 season opener. However, Caitlin Clark and company traveled to the West Coast and notched their first win of the season over the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday night.
Clark struggled from the three-point line in the contest, going just 1-for-7 in the contest, but was effective nonetheless, finishing with 24 points and nine assists. However, not everyone was pleased with what they saw from the Fever superstar in the game.
Cameras caught Clark being closely guarded by a Sparks defender in the first half, and to counter the defense, Clark shoved the defender off with her off hand. While this should warrant a foul, per the rulebook, none was called. What really riled people up, however, was Clarkâs perceived âfloppingâ after the shove.
Fans on social media took exception to a clip of the play in question.
âi deeply hate her brand of basketball man she had all offseason to work on her antics and emotional control and her infamous 3s but seemed like all she did was golf,â one fan wrote on X.
âShe plays basketball like a victim,â one fan added.
âBut had the nerve to telling somebody they been âflopping all d**n dayâ when thatâs literally her style of play,â another fan added.

âShe so mid, sheâll never reach Aja Wilson goat level,â someone else added.
Regardless of how people may feel about her, the reality is that Clark is one of the most effective players in the league. If her three-point shot starts falling again, itâll be scary to think about the sort of highs her game can reach, and if she gets a whistly akin to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the NBA, she could end up dominating the sport for years to come.
