âThis group is amazing,â Furman said. âI promised them in the summer that we would win this regional today at home, and this is all about them and the work that they put in, and the fact that when I tell them what the plan is, they donât question it, and they support each other, and they trust me, and they trust each other and look out for each other, and Iâm lucky enough to coach the most amazing five other coaches. Itâs them. Itâs not me â Iâm just lucky.â

Senior Mary Myshock earned a regional repeat by finishing first in the 100 hurdles (18.01), while Frankie Wabanimkee claimed first in the pole vault (7-6). The Bulldogs also received firsts from the 4X100 relay (Josie Cooper, Kaylee Taglauer, Myshock, Chloe Robinson, 53.64), the 4X200 relay (Faith Lehre, Myshock, Taglauer, Mackenzie Biesel, 1:52.28), and the 4X400 relay (Taglauer, Robinson, Lehre, Josephine Furman, 4:24.55).
Howard breaks I-L school record in 400 For the I-L boys, junior Tanner Howard had a massive day that saw him qualify for each event he participated in, including the 400, where he earned first and broke the school record with a 50.98 time.
He was also a member of the 4X100 relay (Jake Feagan, Christian Copeland, Howard, Pietro Giordan, 45.63), the 4X200 relay (Feagan, Jeremy Kettel, Howard, Copeland, 1:37.84), and the 4X400Â relay (Feagan, Elijah Elliott, Robinson, Howard, 3:39.62) teams, who all earned first and booked their tickets to states.

âWeâve been putting in a lot of work this season,â Howard said. âWe were running average to start the season like we were last year, but I donât know what hit, but we started running crazy times. We just started pushing harder at practice, eating healthier, and doing things we needed to do to."
The Bulldogs had a strong day overall, finishing second (91 points). Fairview (131) was first.
Pellston, Onaway see athletes qualify The Pellston boys and girls saw athletes earn spots in the state finals, including senior Josh Grondin, who finished second in the 300 hurdles (43.60). Grondin was also a member of the 4X100 relay team of Hunter Brandt, Brady Bonter and John Sonnenberg, who qualified by finishing second (47.88).

For the Pellston girls, Adalynn Hendershotâs second place in the long jump (14-6) allowed her to secure state qualification. Hendershot also recorded fourth in the 200 (29.44) and fifth in the 400 (1:06.25).
The Onaway girls saw senior Lillyann Cooksey earn a regional title in the long jump (14-8). Cooksey also placed third in the 200 (28.47) and fifth in the 100 (13.85).
Pacing the Onaway boys was Benedict Suess, who took third in the long jump (18-3) and fifth in the 100 (12.30) and 200 (25.57).
The D4 track and field finals will take place in Hudsonville on Saturday, May 30.
