There will be some people on the hot seat entering the 2026 NFL season, and one of them might be in the Philadelphia Eagles organization. Some believe that head coach Nick Sirianni could eventually find himself without a job in Philadelphia, depending on how the year goes.
I don't think Sirianni was much to blame for some of the struggles last year, but I also wouldn't be that surprised to see him get canned if the Eagles struggle a bit this year. The harsh reality of coaching in Philadelphia is that teams are expected to win at a very high level, especially the Eagles.
However, a Philadelphia reporter threw some cold water on that potential possibility. While some are questioning whether the offense could figure things out under Sean Mannion and Philadelphia could hire him after the year, it's much more likely that if the offense has success, Sirianni would be back for another year, unless this one thing happened.
“If the Eagles' offense is "extremely successful," then presumably the Eagles' season as a whole will be as well, and feelings toward Sirianni will be a lot more positive than they are presently.
“If you were to ask what scenario I could see a Mannion promotion coupled with a Sirianni firing, it might be if the offense hums early in games, and then Sirianni orders an ultra conservative ball control approach with a comfortable lead instead of staying aggressive, like he did several times last year, notably against the Rams, Buccaneers, Broncos, and Cowboys. They were able to hang on in two of those games, but lost to the Broncos and Cowboys. Jeffrey Lurie might get sick of watching that garbage if it happens some more in 2026,” Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice wrote.
Nick Sirianni could be fired if the Eagles struggle during the 2026 NFL season, as the team's high expectations for winning may lead to a coaching change.
If Nick Sirianni is let go, there are speculations that the Eagles could consider hiring Sean Mannion, depending on the offense's performance.
The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to perform at a very high level in the 2026 NFL season, which puts pressure on the coaching staff, including Nick Sirianni.

Taking the foot off the gas in the NFL was literally never a good idea, no matter how talented a team is, especially the Eagles. As we saw a year ago, when teams are down, they simply just have to keep their foot on the gas and find a way to get the job done.
If Sirianni doesn't do that and the offense is good in other parts, perhaps anything is possible, though I would say that if the offense is good, Philadelphia should have a really good season and it won't be firing its head coach.
