NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royalsâ young batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on Thursday offered cake to Romi Bhinder, who was celebrating his birthday. Bhinder is the long-standing Team Manager of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. A video posted by Rajasthan Royals on social media, showing Sooryavanshi offering cake to Bhinder and urging him to cut it, has gone viral.
In the video, Sooryavanshi brings a small cake and asks Bhinder to cut it.
"Happy Birthday sir. Cake cutting karna hai", Sooryavanshi says.
When Bhinder replied that he had already cut the cake, the 15-year-old responded: "Vapis karna hai. Aaj hi kiya hai na sir, kal kaha. 12 baje ke baad na."
Bhinder was also seen scrolling through his smartphone with Sooryavanshi by his side in the Rajasthan Royals dugout during the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Guwahati.
As per PMOA protocols, team managers are allowed to use mobile phones, but not in the dugout, which amounts to a breach.
Sooryavanshi is the highest run-getter for Rajasthan Royals this season. He has scored 200 runs in five matches at an average of 40.00 and a staggering strike rate of 263.16.
RR winning run ends
Rajasthan Royalsâ winning run came to a halt in their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Debutant pacers Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain announced themselves on the big stage by sharing eight wickets as Sunrisers Hyderabad ended Rajasthan Royalsâ winning streak with a commanding 53-run victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 13.
In a fairytale-like script, Nagpur-based Hinge became the first bowler in IPL history to pick up a three-wicket haul in the opening over. He dismantled RRâs top order to finish with figures of 4/34. Hussain, hailing from Gopalganj in Bihar, provided the finishing touch with an impressive 4/24.
For Rajasthan Royals, who were reeling at 9/5, a 118-run partnership between Donovan Ferreira (69) and Ravindra Jadeja (45)âthe second-highest stand for the sixth wicket or lower in IPL historyâhelped the side recover from a collapse. However, they were eventually bowled out for 159 in 19 overs.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi humorously asked Romi Bhinder to cut his birthday cake, insisting he hadn't done it yet despite Bhinder's response.
The video went viral due to the funny and light-hearted exchange between the young player and the team manager during Bhinder's birthday celebration.
