Abhishek Sharma of Sunrisers Hyderabad needs 59 runs to reach 2000 runs for the franchise in IPL 2026. He aims to become the fourth player to achieve this milestone.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s explosive opener Abhishek Sharma is on the brink of a major milestone as SRH prepare to face Delhi Capitals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in IPL 2026. The left-hander needs just 59 runs to join an elite list of batters who have scored 2000 or more runs for the franchise.
Abhishek currently has 1941 runs for SRH, and is set to become only the fourth player to cross the 2000-run mark for the Hyderabad-based side. The exclusive list is led by Australian great David Warner, followed by Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson.
Warner tops the charts with a staggering 4014 runs in 95 matches, averaging 49.55 at a strike rate of 142.59. Dhawan sits second with 2768 runs, while Williamson has contributed 2101 runs for the franchise.
If Abhishek reaches the milestone, he will become just the second Indian batter after Shikhar Dhawan to score 2000 runs for SRH. The 25-year-old has played 80 matches for the franchise, scoring at an average of 26.95 and an impressive strike rate of 166.89, highlighting his aggressive approach at the top.
Record Holder for SRH
Abhishek already holds a significant record for the franchise. His blistering 141 off 55 balls against Punjab Kings last season, featuring 14 fours and 10 sixes, remains the highest individual score for SRH and also the highest by an Indian in IPL history. That innings powered SRH to a remarkable chase of 246.
In IPL 2026, Abhishek has had a mixed run so far, scoring 188 runs in six innings, with a top score of 74. Despite inconsistency, his ability to change the game in a matter of overs makes him a key player for SRH.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, riding on back-to-back wins, will look to secure a third consecutive victory when they face Delhi Capitals at home. Currently fourth on the table, SRH are high on confidence after defending 194 against Chennai Super Kings, thanks to strong bowling contributions from Eshan Malinga, Nitish Reddy, Sakib Hussain, and Shivang Kumar. While Praful Hinge had an off day, his composure in the final over remains a positive.
However, SRH’s batting has been inconsistent. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head have followed a high-risk, high-reward approach, but the returns have been mixed. This has increased the reliance on Heinrich Klaasen, the current Orange Cap holder. Contributions from Ishan Kishan and the middle order will be crucial.
Abhishek Sharma needs 59 runs to reach 2000 runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The top run-scorers for SRH are David Warner with 4014 runs, Shikhar Dhawan with 2768 runs, and Kane Williamson with 2101 runs.
Abhishek Sharma's milestone match against Delhi Capitals is set to take place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium during IPL 2026.

Delhi Capitals, placed fifth, bounced back from two consecutive losses with a successful chase against RCB. KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs led the recovery after a top-order collapse, while David Miller sealed the win, redeeming himself after a previous setback.
