For Mumbai Indians, the defeat marked their sixth loss in eight games this season. They remain ninth in the 10-team table, only ahead of Lucknow Super Giants on net run rate, with both sides having four points. Despite posting a formidable total earlier in the evening, MI once again failed to defend, underlining their inconsistency this season.
