Heather Arnett of Pitt State softball has set a new NCAA Division II record with a 43-game hitting streak, surpassing the previous record of 41 held by Katelyn Lovato. Arnett achieved this milestone on April 11 against Northwest Missouri.

PITTSBURG, KS â Pitt State softballâs Heather Arnett set the longest hitting streak in NCAA Division II and MIAA softball history with 43 consecutive games recording a hit last week.
On Saturday, April 11, Arnett singled to left field in the seventh inning versus Northwest Missouri to break the original record (41) that was previously held by Adams State Universityâs Katelyn Lovato. Arnettâs new streak now dates back to May 8, 2025.
âI would say itâs more so knowing what my job is,â Arnett explains. âI try not to worry about anybody else. I watch the pitchers that weâre going to face and kind of come up with a game plan. I didnât really notice how close I was to breaking it. It kind of just happened.â
Arnett Sets NCAA Division II Hitting Streak Record
On top of guiding the team to a 39-2 overall record midway through the season, Arnettâs statistics have been increasing each game. The infielder has been hitting .559, has 90 hits, 63 runs and 38 RBI throughout her senior campaign (41 games).
âItâs a reflection of the work sheâs put in all of her life since she started playing softball,â head softball coach Josh Barnes adds. âI think that for her, itâs a relief knowing that she has the record and she should just not even worry about it.â
âIâm just doing everything I can to help us win. If thatâs getting on base, bunting, sacrifice fly walksâŠthatâs just my job,â Arnett mentions.
PSU will return to action Friday, April 17 to host a doubleheader versus Northeastern State at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
