Brenton Strange, a tight end for the Jacksonville Jaguars, praised head coach Liam Coen for his effective leadership and the familiarity he brings to the team. Strange noted that many players are thriving under Coen's system, especially after the departure of Evan Engram.
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Brenton Strange has proven to be a reliable pass catcher and a solid blocker, with a lot of potential to become even better in the future. He began to emerge in a bigger role on offense after the departure of Evan Engram, and like with many other players on the roster, is performing at a higher level under head coach Liam Coen.
Recently, he appeared on 'Good Morning Football,' where he discussed why he, and so many other Jaguars, are thriving so much with Coen's leadership.
"You know what you're getting into this time, [what] to expect going into practice, going into games, how Liam likes to run his system," Strange began. "So that's what I'm super excited for. It's just a familiarity of being with everybody. I have my same tight ends coach. We got Grant [Udinski] back. So it's just going to be good to be back with everybody in the building. I can't wait to get back to work."
He then explained why it is that Coen is so beloved in the Jacksonville locker room.
"It's that fire, man. I see it week in and week out. He got that fire, and he got that competitive juice to him. So I love Liam," he said. "He makes it easy to go out there and want to work hard and play hard for him. Just, he'll come up to you at pre-practice sometimes and be like, oh, you know, somebody said this, and that just get me going, because you know, I don't feel like we always get the respect that we deserve, but we just going to keep taking it and keep working hard."
Coen is a major part of the Jaguars' transformation from a 4-13 laughing stock, to a 13-4 juggernaut. Yet as Strange pointed out, throughout the 2025 season, and continuing into the offseason, Jacksonville continues to be disrespected and underrated.
Yet one of the things Coen instilled in the Jags is grit; he infused the team with resilience and drive, so that every time the Jaguars were disrespected, it only fueled them. Clearly, that strategy has made an impact on the players, with what appears to be universal respect and admiration for their coach.
