Steelers announce signings of six UDFAs
Pittsburgh Steelers announce signings of six undrafted free agents.
The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Houston tight end Tanner Koziol with the 164th pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
Here is a full breakdown with everything you need to know.
Tanner Koziol's bio at Houston
Koziol is an experienced player, with 2,496 career offensive snaps under his belt. This season, his first at Houston, he took on a much larger role as a blocker, filling that role on nearly 60% of his snaps. Koziol remained very active in the pass game, however, totaling 94 targets. He was reliable as well, hauling in 79% of those passes for 727 yards with six touchdowns. Koziol played just 145 special teams snaps over four seasons.
Koziol was targeted 337 times over four seasons, including 123 times in 2024 with Ball State and, as mentioned, 94 times in 2025 with Houston, according to PFF.
"Koziol will be ranked higher by teams who put a premium on ball skills or are looking for a “big slot” weapon. He’ll be lower for teams looking for more of a true Y or well-rounded tight end." - Dane Brugler, The Athletic
"Long, angular pass-catching tight end with impressive production throughout his career. Koziol’s monotonous route-running and average play speed lead to an excessive number of contested catches, but his soft hands and overall ball skills help to bring them in at an impressive rate. He appears to lack the technique and toughness necessary to become a functional run blocker against pro competition. Koziol has a chance to become a TE3, but he needs to fine-tune his route-running and play with better short-area quickness to stick around as a catch-only option." - Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
GM James Gladstone: "I think very clearly he's got a superpower that he offers in a real way and that's catching the football. Obviously, his production over the course of his college tenure speaks volumes. Being one of, if not the most productive pass catcher in college history, depending on how you look at things, and I think for how we operate, for how Tanner best operates, having a big target like that isn't a bad thing, especially when it comes to red zone play."
A big pass-catching threat in college, Koziol could push for Hunter Long's receiving-first role at this position for the Jaguars, potentially leaving Long off the 53-man roster. That said, Koziol would likely still be behind Brenton Strange, Quintin Morris, and Nate Boerkircher on the depth chart. He could be a regular special teams contributor as well.
