The New England Patriots selected Jam Miller in the seventh round of the NFL draft. What is his realistic 2026 fantasy outlook, and how might his presence impact TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson?
New England doesn’t have a great track record for drafting breakout running backs in the final rounds. Seventh-rounder Craig James had one great season in 1985, and that’s about it for the past half-century. If Miller is going to be this franchise’s best late-round RB draft pick since 1965’s Jim Nance, a lot of things have to go right -- and many more things have to go wrong around him.
The ascending Henderson will get as much as he can handle, and Stevenson will get everything else. While some might justifiably claim that Stevenson is the 1A or at minimum a strong 1B, his injury and fumbling history make it tough to be bullish. At some point, this will be Henderson’s backfield. Presumably, that will happen in September.
So what if Stevenson gets hurt or is somehow benched? It wouldn’t mean Miller would get touches. This is a Super Bowl-caliber squad. If they’re desperate for RB help, they’ll probably sign or trade for a capable workhorse rather than put their faith in their rookie running back, or even in back-bencher Terrell Jennings.
Miller’s yards per carry dropped in each successive season at Alabama. He had more than 12 carries only seven times. In most cases, he followed up those outings with stunningly anemic outputs.
For now, Miller appears to be an extra body in the backfield with little chance of earning even a small supporting role in 2026.

Jam Miller's fantasy outlook for 2026 is uncertain, as the Patriots have a poor track record with late-round running backs and face competition from established players.
Miller's presence may complicate the backfield dynamics, but Henderson is expected to lead, while Stevenson's injury history raises concerns about his reliability.
If Stevenson gets injured, the Patriots are likely to seek external help rather than relying on Miller, given their Super Bowl aspirations.
