Jannik Sinnerās win in Madrid has given him the fourth-longest winning streak in Masters 1000 history. The world number one has now strung together 28 straight wins at this level, a run that began at the 2025 Paris Masters.
The question now is whether he can catch Novak Djokovicās all-time mark of 31 consecutive Masters 1000 victories. That discussion was front and centre on the Nothing Major Show, where Tennis Channel host Steve Weissman gave his prediction.
āHe is going to pass him,ā Weissman said. āHe needs four wins in Rome, the schedule came out today, and he would meet Djokovic potentially in the final because Djokovic is on Zverevās side.ā
āHe is the best player in the world by far, he has won 23 matches in a row overall, and 28 Masters 1000s. With no Carlos Alcaraz who is going to beat him? I donāt see anybody beating this guy in Rome.ā
Sinner made it to last yearās final despite not having played a match for three months before losing to Carlos Alcaraz, who isnāt there this time around. He looks well-placed to extend his run even further.
Jannik Sinner dominated the final, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 against Alexander Zverev.
With his recent victory at the Madrid Open, Jannik Sinner is significantly closing in on Novak Djokovic's Masters record.

Itās now been 15 matches since Jannik Sinner last lost to Alexander Zverev.
The German world number three hasnāt found a way past Sinner since the 2023 US Open, a run that has extended through nine straight defeats.
According to OptaAce, this streak now stands as the longest winning run against a top-five opponent in ATP history since 1990.
Sinnerās nine straight wins over Zverev also put him level with Roger Federerās mark. The Swiss legend won nine on the spin against Andy Roddick between the 2003 and 2007 ATP Finals.
Roddick struggled mightily in that matchup, managing just three wins in their 24 meetings.
But he did get one back at the end, beating Federer in their final encounter at the 2012 Miami Open.
