The Atlanta Falcons face significant challenges in their quarterback situation, needing to choose between Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa. Concerns arise from Jarvis Landry's comments about head coach Kevin Stefanski's past struggles in developing quarterbacks.
The Atlanta Falcons have some work to do filling out their roster. However, even if they put together the best draft class in the NFL this year, their greatest challenge lies elsewhere when it comes to catching up to the rest of the NFC contenders. If they don't figure out their QB situation, the rest of their progress will be for naught.
At least the Falcons are fortunately free of Kirk Cousins. Now they have to decide between starting two imperfect-at-best options: Michael Penix Jr. or Tua Tagovailoa.
Both have plenty of upside, as evidenced by Penix's time at Washington and Tagovailoa's early years in Miami. However, both have injury concerns and will be learning to run a different system under new head coach Kevin Stefanski. On that front there's potentially concerning news regarding Stefanski and how he coaches quarterbacks.
"Iām not trying to bash Kevin Stefanski, Iām just trying to call it how I internally saw it⦠The quarterback development in Cleveland just wasnāt there..."
Landry may not be the most reliable narrator in the league, but there is at least some truth to his statement.
The Browns burned through several different starters during Stefanski's run as head coach, including Baker Mayfield (who also doesn't have nice things to say about Stefanski), Deshaun Watson, Jacoby Brissett, Jameis Winston, Joe Flacco, Case Keenum, P.J. Walker, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Bailey Zappe, Nick Mullens, Jeff Driskel, Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders and the entire cast of the hit HBO drama, The Wire.
To be fair, the organization didn't do Stefanski any favors - especially with the Watson trade. However, the fact that none of these quarterbacks managed to earn a long-term job is a sign that the development was lacking. The treatment that Sanders got last season is more evidence that Landry may be right.
Then again, it's very difficult to judge Stefanski given the context that is the ever-churning chaos of the Cleveland Browns. He did well enough to win two NFL Coach of the Year awards - and Falcons fans should be patient and give him at least a couple of seasons to see how well he can grow his QBs and the rest of the team.

Jarvis Landry indicated that Kevin Stefanski's teams in Cleveland did not effectively develop the quarterback position.

The Atlanta Falcons are considering Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa as their starting quarterbacks.
What are the injury concerns for the Falcons' quarterback options?
Both Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa have notable injury histories that could impact their performance and availability.
