Brown didnât hold back with his comments about how the referees officiated the game. He claimed that they responded to his criticism earlier in the season by calling offensive fouls on him.
âThey keep saying, like thereâs push-offs and stuff like that,â Brown said. âDo you know how many players do that? Thatâs the common play, a basketball play. Every player does it. So why are you targeting me?
âThey clearly had an agenda. Maybe because I had spoken and was critical of the refs in the regular season. So you know how they responded? Weâre gonna call every â youâre going to lead the playoffs in offensive fouls. That was the response from the officiating crew.â
The league also fined the five-time All-Star $35,000 in January. He acknowledged that he was frustrated with the calls against him and his team during a game versus San Antonio. Brown blasted the referees for ârefusingâ to call fouls on the Spurs while they whistled touch fouls on the Celtics.
Boston shot four free throws compared to San Antonioâs 20. The 6-foot-6 swingman added that he expected the NBA would send him a letter for his comments.
