Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have been teammates on the Boston Celtics for nine years. But in an alternate universe, one or both of them could be playing for the Philadelphia 76ers instead.

In both the 2016 and 2017 NBA Drafts, the 76ers had the first pick and the Celtics had the third pick. Philadelphia could have drafted Brown and/or Tatum.

Instead, the Sixers took Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz, neither of whom is with the team anymore. Brown and Tatum went to Boston, where they've enjoyed nothing but success over the last nine years.

On Friday, Tatum expressed how grateful he is for his partnership with Brown and getting drafted by the Celtics.

"It's great. I've been fortunate enough to be with this organization for my entire career so far and have some incredible teammates," Tatum told reporters. "Been with (Brown) this entire journey. Nobody's successful by themselves. It takes a group, it takes a village."

Boston's proven that again this year. While Brown was great in Tatum's absence, the Celtics wouldn't be where they are without career years from Payton Pritchard, Neemias Queta, Luka Garza, Baylor Scheierman, Jordan Walsh and others.

Tatum knows he's lucky to be part of such a successful organization with a terrific culture and the expectation of winning every year.

"I’m thankful, tenfold, for that," he added.

Brown and Tatum have already won a championship together. Now they'll try to do it again.
