The Jets originally had the No. 44 pick but traded back with the Lions for picks 50 and 128. With that No. 50 pick, the Jets selected Indiana cornerback D'Angelo Ponds.
Ponds is a 5-foot-9, 170-pound corner who will look to give Gang Green's secondary a shot in the arm.
Last season, Ponds made 60 tackles (43 solo) while forcing a fumble and picking off two passes. Over his three collegiate seasons (one with James Madison, two with Indiana), Ponds has made 167 total tackles while defending 31 passes, picking off seven passes and even running back two for touchdowns.
The Jets had their choice between Arvell Reese and Bailey. In Bailey, they went with the more sure thing – a dynamic edge who was universally considered the best pass rusher in this class.
In 2025, Bailey was certainly dynamic. He had 19.5 tackles for a loss and 14.5 sacks to earn All-American honors. One source, who saw Bailey early in his Texas Tech career, told SNY there was “no denying who the best player on the field was – No. 31 just flashed time and time again.”
Bailey joins a defensive line that includes free-agent signings Joseph Ossai and Kingsley Enagbare, along with former first-round pick Will McDonald.
This one is a surprise. Coach Aaron Glenn, at the NFL's annual meeting, shouted out Taylor as a player to watch this season. Now they go, and with their second first-round pick, add Sadiq.
There's no denying the physical gifts from the Oregon tight end. He's 6-3, 241 pounds. He ran a 4.39 40-yard dash and 43.5-inch vertical. He caught 51 passes for 560 yards and eight touchdowns a season ago. He just needs time to develop.
The Jets sat and took the best player available with their first two selections (Bailey**,** Sadiq). After trading back into the first round, they addressed a need with wideout Omar Cooper.
The coaching staff loves Garrett Wilson -- obviously. There's a strong affinity for AD Mitchell, too. But the group was still missing something. The hope is that Cooper fills it. Fernando Mendoza's go-to guy in Indiana, Cooper caught 69 passes for 937 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The Jets have picks in Round 4, specifically Pick No. 103 and Pick No. 128, with more details to be announced.
Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft is scheduled to occur after the first two days of the draft, typically in late April.
The total number of picks the Jets have in the 2026 NFL Draft has not been specified yet, but they are confirmed to have multiple selections on Day 3.
