The New York Jets came into the NFL offseason with three goals at quarterback: Find a starter, find a rookie developmental option, and add another veteran to round out the QB room.
So far, they've added Geno Smith in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders to be their starter, and took Cade Klubnik on Day 3 of the NFL Draft to land their developmental QB. Now, they have their sights set on their second veteran QB.
Russell Wilson was the player they landed on, as they met with the former Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants QB on a free agent visit. But now, according to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, they might lose the bidding war for Wilson with a TV gig.

"Russell Wilson is in deep talks to go into television, which could mark the end of what is likely a Hall of Fame career as an NFL quarterback, sources briefed on the talks told The Athletic," Marchand writes.
If Wilson decides to retire from the NFL at 37 years old, it would not be a surprise at all. He's had a very successful NFL career, and while the Hall of Fame might be a debate, he has a decent chance to land in the Hall eventually.
But, for the Jets, this could pose a bit of a problem. They had their sights set on the former Giants, Seahawks, and Denver Broncos quarterback as their third QB option.
In search of another veteran to pair with Smith and Klubnik, Wilson emerged as a very real candidate for this spot on the Jets roster.
They now might have to pivot with Wilson seemingly closing in on a deal to go into television, with CBS Sports the frontrunner to bring Wilson in as their replacement for Matt Ryan.
In free agency, if Wilson does decide to join TV and leave the Jets without a veteran option, they could turn to Tyrod Taylor, Cooper Rush, Teddy Bridgewater, or Jimmy Garoppolo.
It's a bleak pool of free agent QB options, and with Wilson potentially off the board, their options are narrowing down even further.
The Jets might end up losing the bidding war for Wilson with a TV production, as Wilson is deep in talks to leave the NFL behind and begin a career in TV with a spot on CBS Sports' pregame show very much in play.
