The New York Jets own the No. 2 and the No. 16 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft's first round on Thursday night. There's a lot of uncertainty about both slots, but the Jets are near locks to go for an edge rusher No. 2 overall.
But, with their second first-round pick, the discussion opens up a bit. Wide receiver is the most likely option, as Garrett Wilson could use a better backup than Adonai Mitchell. That's why the Jets have been linked to WR's in this year's draft class at No. 16.
When it comes to landing on the top three WRs in Ohio State's Carnell Tate, USC's Makai Lemon, or Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson, the Jets' odds aren't that great. According to ESPN's Seth Walder, the Jets' odds to land one of those players at No. 16 is 40%.
"What are the chances either (Jordyn) Tyson or (Makai) Lemon lasts to No. 16 (Jets)?" Walder questioned. "40%."
The Jets having a 40% chance to stick and pick at No. 16 overall and still wind up with one of Tyson or Lemon are not terrible odds.
Thanks to a deep wide receiver draft class, teams might be willing to wait on WR in this year's draft a bit, which could help the Jets stick at 16th overall and still wind up with one of the top WRs.

The top wide receiver prospects linked to the Jets are Carnell Tate, Makai Lemon, and Jordyn Tyson.
The Jets' No. 2 pick is likely to be used for an edge rusher, while the No. 16 pick opens up the possibility of selecting a wide receiver.

Tate is unlikely to make it to the Jets' second first-round pick. If they want to pair the Ohio State WR up with following the Buckeyes WR Wilson in New York, then Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey would need to trade up.
The Jets are looking to select a wide receiver in this year's draft class, and there is almost zero chance they take one second overall. But at No. 16, a top WR is very much in play.
And according to ESPN's prediction, there is a 40% chance that one of Tyson or Lemon, two of the top three WRs in this year's draft class, will fall to the 16th pick.
If those 40% odds hit, the Jets would have the chance to select a steal in the middle of the draft in either Tyson or Lemon. These aren't terrible odds for the Jets, and could lead to an exciting draft-night steal for Glenn and Mougey.
