Curtis Jones expressed his eagerness to play in any position for Liverpool, emphasizing his enjoyment of the game. He highlighted his passing accuracy and desire to contribute more goals and assists.
āI just enjoy playing. If Iām as a right-back, if Iām a centre-back, or if Iām a striker, I just want to go and play. I am fortunate enough to have a quality that Iām comfortable on the ball and Iām confident in my own abilities. Iām not shy where I have to go and play. I want to be in centre-midfield, and I know that Iām good enough and I āshouldā be playing there, but itās all about the team and thatās what you have to put first.ā
āAlthough Iām a full-back now at the minute, Iām playing inside as well, so Iām still getting a chance to get in the box and a chance to go and score and assist and things like that. I wouldnāt say that Iām a defender. Iām a full-back/centre-midfielder, you can say. I just enjoy playing. Iām a lad that any time I get a chance to have a ball at my feet, my eyes just light up. I just end up with a smile on my face. Thatās what I want to go and do, especially in a team like this and a club like this. As Iāve said already, if I have to go and play off the wing, or as a striker, or as a centre-half, wherever it is, Iām fine.ā He was then asked about his overall campaign and statistically leading the Premier League in passing accuracy in the opposition half⦠āItās been up and down and I think thatās been the whole of the team. Iāve played a lot of games. Although I would like to play in centre-midfield and have that spot as mine, Iāve got to appreciate the lads around me and their abilities as well. The stats there, I think they speak for themselves. Thereās been a number of times that Iāve been told that I stay on the ball a lot and things like that, but as everybody can see, I donāt give the ball away at the same time. I think the important thing is to take that to the next step and try to score more and assist more.ā Jones is a player who divides the fanbase, and he isnāt perfect by any means, but I still think itād be a big loss if he left. I think heās been a bit hard done by the head coachās preferences at times, particularly during January and February, when there could have been more rotation in the midfield spots. Weāll find out soon if heās really moving on in the summer.
