The Saints selected WR Jordyn Tyson in the first round of the NFL draft, raising questions about his 2026 fantasy outlook and impact on teammates like Chris Olave. Tyson's injury history may delay his challenge for a top spot in the depth chart.
The Saints selected WR Jordyn Tyson in the first round of the NFL draft. What is his realistic 2026 fantasy outlook, and how might his presence impact Chris Olave and other New Orleans wideouts?
Not many first-round picks have Tyson’s injury history: a torn-up knee in 2022, a broken collarbone in 2024, and the dreaded (for fantasy managers) soft-tissue issues in 2025, courtesy of the mighty hamstring.
As with many high-priced rookie receivers, his landing spot is both fantasy-friendly and a little concerning. Olave is the alpha, and Tyson might be at least a couple of years away from challenging him for the top spot on the depth chart. But there’s no other serious competition for the #2 job in what is a pretty top-heavy WR corps.
How good is Tyler Shough? He looked shockingly (to me, anyway) strong in a rookie campaign that began with him on the bench. That said, exceeding low expectations doesn’t mean he’ll rise to the occasion in Year 2. Shough, who already will turn 27 in September, might need to play even better to ensure he’s still starting in 2027.
That matters for Tyson and Olave, as this offense is built to feed one WR consistently. Two? That requires a developmental leap for Shough.
That also means Devaughn Vele, Mason Tipton, and every other tertiary option are essentially undraftable... with one caveat. Since Tyson is an above-average durability risk, if you have a lot of bench spots, Vele has enough pop to warrant a stash, especially as a hedge if you draft Tyson.

Jordyn Tyson's presence may impact Chris Olave's performance by providing competition for the #2 wide receiver spot, although Olave remains the alpha in the receiving corps.
Jordyn Tyson has faced a torn knee in 2022, a broken collarbone in 2024, and hamstring issues in 2025, which raise concerns for his future performance.
