Juventus Poised to Keep Productive Loanee Permanently
Jeremie Boga has had an excellent impact since joining Juventus in January. He’s slated to be bought out, considering that the option to retain him is rather small. Exec Giorgio Chiellini heavily hinted at that in his remarks before the recent Atalanta clash.
According to Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto (via SOSFanta), the Bianconeri fully plan to pick up their €4.8M clause to redeem the winger. At that point, they’ll only need to ratify the agreement on personal terms with the player. It is generally sketched out before the loan. Per Calcio e Finanza, his salary could be around €2.5M, which isn’t an issue for their standards.
Boga has scored four goals and provided one assist in nine Serie A appearances since moving to Juventus. He came in to deputize Kenan Yildiz, who didn’t have a proper backup. However, he ended up replacing Jonathan David and Lois Openda as the tip of the spear, with great results.
The Ivorian speedster hadn’t played in months with Nice before his return to Italy. He had stepped away following an incident with the fans. He had a strong run with Sassuolo earlier in his career, while he wasn’t as effective with Atalanta before being sold to the Ligue 1 side.
They probably would have kept him regardless, given the meager numbers, as he’s tailor-made to be a super sub. It’s weird that he’s been so clinical, as his subpar nose for the goal kept him from making the final leap in his previous spells. His success as a false-nine should perhaps inform them about what type of center-forward they should target.
