Fresh off back-to-back ACC tournament titles, the former WNBA All-star was in attendance at Game 1 of the Carolina Hurricanes’ Round 2 Stanley Cup Playoffs game against the Philadelphia Flyers, where she was delt the great honor of serving as the team’s “Siren Sounder” for Saturday evening’s game.

The tradition, which dates back to the 2008-09 season, asks a celebrity, season ticket holder or corporate partner hand-crank a hurricane warning siren in the 200 level of the arena as the team takes the ice before each game.

This isn’t the first time someone from the Duke coaching ranks has done the honors. Last season, men’s basketball coach Jon Scheyer and football head coach Manny Diaz each sounded the siren for game’s during the Canes’ Eastern Conference Finals run.

This bad mojo didn’t appear to follow Lawson down Tobacco Road as Carolina dominated Philadelphia 3-0.

Now, the 2026 ACC Coach of the Year returns to Durham in the midst of constructing her 2026-27 roster in hopes of adding more hardware to the trophy case at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
