Konate rallies Liverpool for run-in after Champions League exit
Ibrahima Konate has called on Liverpool to go âall inâ in pursuit of Champions League qualification.
Liverpool were eliminated from the Champions League on Tuesday night after defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield. Ousmane Dembele scored twice as the holders secured a 2-0 win, and 4-0 aggregate success, to progress to the last four.
The result marked a disappointing end to Liverpoolâs European campaign and ended hopes of a major trophy this season. It continues a challenging campaign for Arne Slotâs side, who have struggled to replicate the levels of last seasonâs Premier League title-winning displays.
Attention now turns to ensuring the club book a place in next seasonâs Champions League. Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League table, ahead of this weekendâs historic first-ever Merseyside Derby against Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Konate has rallied the Reds for the run-in and said Champions League football is âthe minimum standardâ his side expect.
âFor sure, I think itâs the minimum standard for Liverpool to play in the Champions League,â Konate said.
âWe have six games left and during these six games, we have to go all in. We know how difficult the Premier League is but we have to go all in to be in the Champions League next season againâ
