Kyle Busch has responded to Denny Hamlin's comments about his struggles at Richard Childress Racing, stating he could make Hamlin's life 'hell.' Hamlin criticized Busch's performance compared to teammate Austin Dillon and questioned his ability to adapt to the Next-Gen car.
NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch has suggested that he does not like Denny Hamlin talking about his current struggles at Richard Childress Racing. He did not hesitate in saying that he could make Hamlinâs life âhell.â
MotorBiscuit reported Hamlinâs comments from a recent episode of his Actions Detrimental podcast, where he compared Busch to his RCR teammate Austin Dillon, and questioned if NASCARâs current Next-Gen car was responsible for a decline in Buschâs performance. Hamlin said:
âYouâre a Hall of Fame Mount Rushmore driver, and if youâre of the greatest, then carry it better than your teammate who has won 10 races. I think he should be able to do that, but itâs not happening.
âI think that he doesnât know how to get the speed out of the Next-Gen car on a consistent basis. Thereâs been flashes of it. And when yes, he won three races his first season at RCR. That was the first year of Next-Gen.â
Hamlin then went on to doubt whether Busch can frequent the Victory Lane again. He said:
âIf youâre expecting Kyle Busch to just go back to Victory Lane on a regular basis, youâre kidding yourselves and youâre going to be very disappointed. I just think that, until we change the car or something changes, something has to change, and I have no idea. Iâm not in his shoes. Iâm not his crew chief.

âIâm not his engineer, and Iâm not his team owner. Â Iâm not in the weeds. Iâm just a podcaster that happens to be on the racetrack around him, and I can say itâs not working. I donât have the answers, and we need to just live in this reality for the time being.â
However, Busch has hit back at Hamlinâs comments, revealing that he would like to see Hamlin perform better than him in the same car. Speaking to Jeff Gluck of The Athletic, the NASCAR veteran said:
âIf Denny wants to switch cars, Iâll switch cars with him. Any day of the week, any time. Iâd love for him to show me that he can carry it better than I can.â
Busch was then asked if he consumes what people say about him on social media. He answered:
âI have consumed some of it over time and 80%, people donât know what the hell theyâre talking about. In this instance, I donât feel like Denny Hamlin even knows what the hell heâs talking about. So he can bash me all he wants. I can certainly make his life hell.â
