Kyle Kuzma has become a team owner of the Sierra Racing Club, which competes in the UIM E1 World Championship, the first all-electric foiling raceboat series. His involvement is driven by a focus on technological innovation and sustainability in marine environments.
Kyle Kuzma is now an E1 team owner.
According to a press release shared with AFROTECH, the NBA champion, who currently plays for the Milwaukee Bucks, has joined the ownership group of Sierra Racing Club, which competes in the UIM E1 World Championship presented by PIF, “the world’s first all-electric foiling raceboat championship.” The league was launched to advance electric marine technologies while promoting sustainable urban waters and coastal environments.
The team is backed by Sierra Space, a defense company that develops satellites, subsystems, spaceplanes, hypersonics, and infrastructure for the U.S. National Security and is driven by a desire to “sustain human presence in space” and safeguard the nation, according to its website.
Technological innovation was one of the key draws for Kuzma in joining the team’s ownership group, which includes Kerem Ozmen (Owner / Team Principal), Dominik Madani (Co-Owner), and Thibaut Courtois (Co-Owner / Brand Ambassador), per the press release.
“I’m always looking at where sport is going and where there’s an opportunity to build something pioneering within it. Sierra Racing Club brings together a rare combination of elite competition, technological innovation, and sustainability, with a clear vision for a global platform that can resonate far beyond the racecourse,” Kuzma said in the news release. “An E1 RaceBird designed to fly above the ocean — that’s not just engineering, that’s the future. The aerospace heritage through Sierra Space gives this team a foundation unlike anything else in the sport, and I see a real opportunity to bring my experience in business, sport, and culture into how we position this team for long-term success.”
Sierra Racing Club iCo-Owner Dominik Madani commented:
“His arrival brings international reach, competitive credibility, and creative authority to a team already pushing the boundaries of what sport can be. That is a rare and powerful combination.”
Kuzma joins a list of notable names with E1 teams in their portfolios, including Tom Brady, LeBron James, Will Smith, and more.
The 2026 season will include eight events across four continents, notes the press release.
