LeBron James’ 300 playoff games prove his sustained NBA dominance

LeBron James made history in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals on Thursday. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar became the first player in NBA history to play in 300 career playoff games.

The four-time champion is in his 23rd season and is not showing signs of slowing down any time soon. He has suited up for three franchises, reaching the postseason multiple times with each.

Next on the list is Derek Fisher, who has 41 less playoff games than James. Tim Duncan, Robert Horry and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar round out the top five.

James’ longevity has been on full display. He surpassed the previous record for most campaigns played held by Vince Carter. The 22-time All-Star continues to be one of the best players in the league, averaging 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game this season.

However, many argue that he’s not the greatest of all-time despite only failing to reach the playoffs four times. While James still contributes elite numbers, the Lakers last won the title in 2020. They also finished as the No. 7 seed in three consecutive years before securing the No. 3 seed this season.

It’s unclear how many more seasons the 41-year-old plans to play. One thing that’s certain is James will give it his all to win another championship to further cement his legacy as an all-time great.
